Born in Montreal Canada, Julie came to the USA after swimming in the 84 Olympic Games and accepting an athletic scholarship to the University of Miami. She has been married to husband Bret for 31 years and began to build Karma in 2005, hoping to expose her two children to work in the vineyards and experience many of the far reaching values that agricultural work can have on them. In 2004 she attended WSU studying enology, and opened Karma in 2007. Currently, Karma has grown into more of a hospitality company producing 100’s of weddings and events, 2 restaurants and vineyards. Their specialty is several blends of methode champenoise, many of which are grown on the estate vineyards. Julie and Bret have a strong commitment to youth in their community and more specifically believe supporting the arts and healthy lifestyle endeavors are a key part of a healthy community. Julie began the first high school viticulture program in 2016, which proved to be a fantastic catalyst for young adults who may not follow the traditional path through college.
