Five New Exciting Experiences for 2020 Season

Our new 193-page 2020 Europe, Asia & Africa Extensive Brochure is now available and is full of inspiring images and detailed information to help plan your next river cruise. I thought it would fun to share what I consider to be special new experiences you might want to consider for the coming season:
  1. Magna on the Danube – Rudi had the AmaMagna on his mind for many years, and because this one-of-a-kind ship is so inspiring, it deserved to have its own special custom itinerary curated by Rudi himself.
What you will experience:  Sailing between Vilshofen and Budapest, you’ll enjoy daytime cruising through the Danube Bend, an included excursion at Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens in Vienna and an exclusive wine festival in Spitz, Austria.
  1. Wellness on the Mekong – Two things very close to my heart came together when I visited AmaDara on the Mekong in early August: wellness activities and the culture and people of Vietnam and Cambodia. I am proud that we will now be able to offer our guests special activities reflecting the time-honored wellness practices from this remarkable area of the world.
What you will experience: In addition to morning stretching, core strengthening, resistance band classes and active wellness walks, you may be able to participate in Tea Ceremony, Yoga, Tai Chi or Meditation depending on your Wellness Host’s expertise.
  1. Istanbul land program – We’ve doubled the number of our Gems of Southeast Europe sailings to meet the increased demand to visit the lower Danube region, which includes the countries of Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. We are excited to be adding the option of a fully escorted three-day stay in the fascinating city of Istanbul, Turkey.

What you will experience: The new extension in Istanbul takes guests through this rich, cultural landscape highlighting the most iconic spots and the history behind the city, including a tour of the legendary Topkapi Palace.
  1. New ship joining the fleet – AmaSiena will be a sister ship to AmaMora which was launched in 2019 and will join the fleet at the end of July 2020 sailing a new itinerary, Vineyards of the Rhine & Moselle.
What you will experience: A combination of the most scenic daytime sailing through the UNESCO-designated castle-studded Rhine Gorge and vineyard-clad Moselle Valley. Scenic stops include the charming villages of Rüdesheim, Cochem and Bernkastel before ending the cruise with an optional three-night extension in Paris, the “City of Lights.”
  1. My personal hidden gem – Taste of Bordeaux with pre-cruise in Bilbao and San Sebastián, Spain and post-cruise through France’s Loire Valley en route to Paris.
What you will experience:  The best of food, wine, art and history comes together in this itinerary that takes you into the lesser-visited Basque Country region of Spain, the picturesque famous vineyards of the south of France and the impressive châteaux and private parks in the Loire Valley – playground of kings and queens.

Speaking about experiences…. It’s not too late to surprise those you care most about with a holiday experience they’ll never forget. The fall and winter season is shaping up to be an exciting one as we get ready for our special Loyalty Cruises in November. And, of course, our year-end Christmas Market Cruises and Holiday Cruises bring back the magic of the season and are so popular with multi-generational families, creating memories that last a lifetime.
