AmaVenita Christening

Christening a brand-new ship for us is much like welcoming a new family member into the AmaWaterways fold. We even refer to our ships that have similar designs as “sister ships.” And are so proud to hear over and over again from our guests that once they set foot on board, that ship becomes their “home away from home.”

So the christening of our newest ship – the AmaVenita – in the historic city of Wuerzburg, Germany on May 5 was even more special because it was orchestrated by Geoff McGeary and his family, who are the owners of our Australian partner, APT. They have contracted this beautiful ship for the entire season. Geoff’s son, Robert, officiated as the Master of Ceremony and after many warm and heartfelt speeches, while lively Bavarian music played in the background, the Godmother of the AmaVenita, Geoff’s daughter-in-law Rebecca, broke the traditional bottle of champagne against the ship, signifying a solemn blessing on all her many journeys to come. Journeys that promise new adventures and new relationships to our many guests and crew traveling within her embrace.
