AmaWaterways kicked off what will be a banner year in style, receiving five gold awards during the Travvy Awards gala held in New York City on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Accepted by President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner and Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Kristin Karst, the awards included:

  • “Best River Cruise Line Overall”
  • “Best River Cruise Line, Africa/Egypt”
  • “Best River Cruise Line, Asia”
  • “Best River Cruise Line, Europe”
  • “Best Cruise Ship – River Cruise:” AmaLea (2018; pictured right)

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by travel professionals who contribute so much to our success as a company,” said Karst. “Receiving these five gold awards, that were voted on by the largest voting block of travel advisors in history, is such a reward for our entire team who work together to ensure our guests have a memorable vacation. This is an exciting start to a record-breaking year for AmaWaterways, and we look forward to continuing the momentum throughout 2019!”

In 2019, AmaWaterways will introduce three new ships, including the one-of-a-kind AmaMagna (pictured below). Launching in May and defining contemporary elegance, AmaMagna features a total of 98 elegantly-appointed staterooms, the majority of which are spacious, full-balcony suites measuring between 355 and 710 sq. ft. At twice the width of traditional river cruise ships, she offers various culinary options, including two new dining venues to entice guests: Jimmy’s, named for AmaWaterways’ late co-founder Jimmy Murphy, and the Al Fresco Restaurant, with retractable ceiling and side windows for guests to indulge in the views of the picturesque Danube and the towns that dot its shores. Additional ships debuting this year include AmaMora, sister ship to award-winning AmaLea, on the Rhine river and AmaDouro on the Douro river.

Produced by travAlliancemedia, the Travvy Awards ceremony recognizes the highest standards of excellence in the travel industry by honoring travel companies, travel products, travel agencies, and destinations for their outstanding achievement.
